The Apple Store Scorton at Wyresdale Park. I first visited the day it hosted an open day when it was featured on Country House Rescue the TV show. With the guidance of presenter Ruth Watson, the owners the Whewell family set about making the estate more appealing to visitors, including the opening of The Apple Store Scorton Cafe. The family hosted an open weekend event with a range of activities, including a local produce market in the barn, live music, real ales and children’s activities. The day was a great success and the Apple Store has grown to be an amazing Café and alongside, Wyresdale’s Wedding Barns. If you plan to visit and like walking then make sure that you do the walk up and around Nicky Nook first, before you engage in eating all the lovely cakes at the Apple Store.
The Cafe Apple Store Scorton
The cafe is open 9.00 am – 4.00 pm every day of the week and there is plenty of free parking available. It boasts a full cafe menu of overstuffed sandwiches, hearty homemade soups and scrumptious cakes.
All ingredients are locally sourced and freshly prepared. Meats are from Honeywells, cheese from Dewlay and Milk from Shepherds Dairy. Cakes are from the Lady of The Manors Kitchens & occasionally from Lathams. Bread is from Berry Lane Bakery.
I attended a friend’s wedding last year at Wyresdale’s Wedding Barns. The venue is one of the best I have ever been to. It’s a kind of self-catering on a mass scale. You hire the barns and the sheds and the campsite etc. Decorating it as you wish. You can hire people in to do the food, the bar, the wedding flowers etc. It’s up to you what you do, they give you a big house to sleep the main wedding party. Read the website to see what is included. It is a truly amazing rentable space for friends and for you to host your wedding/party.

The White Barn

The Ceremony Barn
The Ceremony Barn can seat a hundred and forty and is a stunning room to exchange vows with your partner. This cosy and peaceful space can then be used in the evening. Sit back, relax and watch the celebrations in full swing.
The Tractor Barn
This barn is perfect for your drinks reception if the weather is inclement. The barn adjoins our flower-filled stone courtyard and bar. That contains our antique tractors and makes the perfect spot for a BBQ.
The Tavern
The Tavern is the cherry on top, a picture-perfect miniature tavern that connects all three barns. It oozes the atmosphere and demands a late-night lock-in. We provide the staff and you provide the drinks. Ensuring drinks can either be freely poured or offered at the price you choose. If you don’t want the hassle choose from our choice of bar providers to run for you.
