Scarborough Beach A Day out
Scarborough Beach A Day out , Discover Scarborough Beach
We stayed for a week and liked it here, but found that we could have found more interesting places nearby. Don’t get me wrong, the beaches are superb, the beach cafe’s are 1st class. It has recently gone through a $100 million dollar revamp. Its nice but seems small as it has no real centre to the place. Its 2 main roads with a load of restaurants, hotels and apartments plus a Supermarket. But the upside is that if you like beaches its amazing. Scarborough Beach is a firm favourite for Families. With the regular swell, impressive surf breaks and long stretch of white sand. This attracts swimmers, surfers, Kite Surfers and body-boarders.
There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. You can pack a picnic and enjoy the large grassed areas, public barbecues and gazebos. Brand new to the Scarborough Beach landscape is the Scarborough Beach Pool. The pool is a geo-thermally heated open-air public pool and world-class recreation facility. It’s your go-to fitness centre and your new local eatery – the perfect place to visit all year round. Scarborough Beach also features an outdoor amphitheatre which in summer hosts all kinds of events including beach jazz dance nights. There’s plenty of accommodation along this stretch of coast, making Scarborough Beach an ideal place for a summer beach holiday.
Scarborough Amphitheatre
The picturesque Scarborough Amphitheatre is located on the foreshore of Scarborough. It is a great venue for large or small functions and events, sporting competitions, promotions and weddings. Also serving as a relaxing place to catch up with friends, grab a bite to eat and watch the sunset over the beautiful Indian Ocean.
During the season you can experience Samba and jazz dancing classes. We enjoyed watching Samba evening which was on the night they hold the food market. I had some excellent ribs and potatoes from one of the main stalls. The people that danced seemed to buy a ticket for an hours dancing. A band played music and people dance in the Amphitheatre while the sun set.

Cycle and Walking trails Scarborough Beach
The cycling and walking route from Scarborough Beach is amazing. We walked North to Sorrento Beach, this takes about one and a half hours. You can choose to follow the cycle path at the top of the beach or walk on the beach. Walking on the beach will take you longer with the sand in your feet.
There are plenty of nice cafe’s on the way. we stopped a few times to enjoy the views. Canteen Trigg is nice, plenty of outdoor seating. Yelo Trigg was good too, set across from the path on the other side of the road. They served nice coffee and had a good seating area outside to watch people heading to the beach. The North Beach Deli is also very good (too many places to stop) .
If you make it to Sorrento beach, Then you will find a place just to the North called Hillarys Boardwalk There are plenty of waterside Restaurants ,Bars and eateries here. The views are either of the sea of the Yachts that are moored up in the marina. There are also plenty of shops here for you to have a meander around if you wish.
The Boardwalk is the perfect meeting place for family and friends at any time of day. Shop, eat, play or just relax in the fresh ocean air. Come alive with a dawn swim, enjoy a breakfast coffee, stay for lunch over the water, treat yourself to something new or play at the beach, then watch the sun set from one of the many waterfront dinner destinations.
