Katie Almond

Katie Almond

Here we have some good looking fun porcelain ceramics made by Katie Almond. These pieces will put a smile on anyone’s face.

Katie produces hand-painted decorative porcelain jugs, cups, cake stands and brooches using a variety of slip casting and hand-building techniques. Each piece is essentially a canvas for decoration and collage as Katie combines drawings with found ephemera. Katie is inspired by nostalgia, old paper ephemera, vintage textiles and a love of drawing. Katie has a fascination for old objects that have a history and a story behind them.

The pieces she create are unique, one-offs that explore a variety of nostalgic themes that she is always adding to. Currently the themes are; the notions of afternoon tea, ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’, gardening and flowers, and traditional blue and white pottery.

Since setting up her studio in 2009 she has exhibited and supplied to galleries across the UK. Her work has been featured in Period Living, Essential living and Homes and Antiques.

Artist Statement

Each piece of my work is a canvas for decoration and collage as I combine drawings with found, vintage ephemera. I am inspired by nostalgia, paper ephemera, vintage textiles and a love of drawing. I have always been fascinated by objects that have a history.e Almond Banner

Nostalgic themes that I constantly revisit in my work are afternoon tea, the seaside, gardening, and my love of traditional blue and white pottery.

The porcelain pieces I create are unique, one-offs produced using a variety of slip casting and hand-building techniques. All incorporate my own drawings with found nostalgic imagery by using both hand painting and transfers, and many have the added opulence of gold luster.

Since setting up my studio in 2009 I have exhibited throughout the UK and my work has been featured in magazines, such as Period Living, Essential Living and Homes & Antiques.
