Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail 2023

Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail

Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail

I first joined this trail as an artist in 2014. I had a stand in the village of Silverdale, in the local Hotel which is The Silverdale Hotel. It was a good spot for visitors to see the artwork and also stop for a lunch break. The advertising featured one of my paintings that year (see left image). The Trail is still as popular as ever. This year they are holding the Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail between the 23rd and the 25th of June 2023. The villages of Silverdale and Arnside host this hugely popular and well-established three-day art event over the last weekend in June. Exhibitors welcome visitors into their homes, studios and exhibitions to view and purchase their work. They can also participate in a number of expertly run workshops.

The Trail is thought to be the largest of its kind in Lancashire and attracts over 60 – 90 exhibitors. Many of whom are inspired by the scenery and wildlife of the AONB.

General Information for Exhibitors, Hosts and Visitors

After a wonderful 2022, we are thrilled to be opening applications to artists and makers who want to take part in the 2023 trail. If you would like to take part please head to the Artist’s Info part of the website.

Last year saw over 60 exhibitors share their work from a range of disciplines from jewellery, glass, painting and printing to metalwork, textiles, clay and wood. We were also blown away to be shortlisted as Best Art Venue for the Cumbria Life Readers’ Choice Awards.

The Trail is a community event, organised by volunteers encouraging “ownership” by all the participants.

Exhibitors and others work cooperatively, contributing to tasks and sharing their knowledge in order to positively promote and support this Art and Craft event.

The Trail aims to encourage creativity within the community and promote and showcase the work of amateurs and professionals within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The aim is to bring a wide range of arts and crafts to everyone’s experience.

Anyone who creates their own work can apply to be an exhibitor. We also welcome interest from individuals wishing to do demonstrations and workshops. Resident exhibitors tend to locate their own exhibition venue, be it home, studio or workshop. The public venue space is shared between residents and guests in order to provide variety and interest.

The organisers are very much looking forward to SAACT 2020. This year’s trail will see the launch of their Emerging Artist Program and a brand-new venue for their Outdoor Art Trail, as well as new and returning exhibitors.
