Set in the backdrop of Hutton-in-the-Forest on the edge of the beautiful Lake District National Park. We have visited about 6 times over the years. Purchasing a few pieces of pottery along the way

The ceramics festival Potfest In The Park 2020 takes place in and around bright white marquees set across the parkland in front of the castle. Fresh country air drifts through the tents. Laughter follows. Meanwhile, rows of handcrafted pots, bowls and sculptural pieces catch the light beautifully. The potters’ special competition entries sit proudly on the lawn. Ancient stone walls rise behind them. Modern ceramics glow in the foreground. The contrast feels bold. It feels unforgettable.
The historic Cumbrian house, Hutton-in-the-Forest, stands on the edge of the Lake District. It was already at least 250 years old when it was bought by Lord Inglewood’s family in 1605. Today, its mix of medieval, Tudor and Georgian architecture draws visitors from across the country. Elegant rooms open to the public. Manicured gardens frame the estate. However, it is during summer that the grounds truly come alive.
Throughout the season, outdoor events fill the calendar. The Plant and Food Fair tempts gardeners and food lovers alike. Historic vehicle rallies roll across the lawns. The Wanasee Music Festival brings rhythm and colour. Yet Potfest in the Park remains a highlight. Here, you can meet makers, watch demonstrations and even take home a future heirloom. Temptation is guaranteed. Your shelves may never look the same again.
