We called in here on our way to Folkestone to catch our train. As we drove from the entrance gate towards the property, we spotted deer relaxing on a crisp winter morning. They looked perfectly content, basking in the rare sunshine that broke through the cold. After parking the van, we decided to take a walk around the grounds. It was wonderful to stroll past the deer and soak in the calm atmosphere before continuing into the town of Sevenoaks. We arrived at 10:00 a.m., but the house itself didn’t open until 11:00 a.m. So, with time to spare, we wandered into the town to explore the small Saturday market.

The market, though modest, had a lovely local charm — stalls filled with fresh produce, baked goods, and cheerful chatter. We also explored a few of the nearby shops before heading back to Knole for our visit. Everything was clearly signposted from the town, making it easy to find our way back.

Knole’s combination of historic grandeur, open parkland, and wildlife makes it a perfect stop for anyone who enjoys nature, heritage, and a touch of tranquillity.
