We came across a branch of Lynwood and Co Café while visiting St Mary’s Church at Fairford, notable for its complete set of 28 medieval stained-glass windows. It was early in the morning, and we had already enjoyed coffee at the hotel, so we simply browsed the menu and made a mental note to return another day.

A few hours later, while exploring Burford, we spotted another branch of Lynwood and Co and decided it was the perfect opportunity for a stop. We ordered coffee and cake, and it did not disappoint. The coffee was rich and expertly brewed, while the cake was fresh, moist, and perfectly sweet. The surroundings added to the experience: a few comfortable sofas, wooden tables, and part-panelled walls that created a warm, cosy atmosphere. It was the ideal spot to relax, watch people stroll by, and recharge before continuing our Cotswolds explorations.

Sourdough Bread

Their bread, which is also available for take Is lovingly hand-crafted in their bakery, The Hatherop estate. Using traditional sourdough slow fermentation methods results in an easily digestible, flavoursome loaf. They source their blend of organic flours from Shipton Mill in Tetbury.

I am quite sure we will be back for lunch one day soon. If not at this branch, then one of the other locations.
