I first joined this Trail as an artist in 2014, with a stand at The Silverdale Hotel, a great spot for visitors to view artwork and enjoy lunch. The advertising that year featured one of my paintings (see left image). The Trail remains as popular as ever. This year, the Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail takes place from 24th to 26th June 2022.

Over the three-day event, exhibitors welcome visitors into homes, studios, and exhibitions to view and purchase work, while also offering expertly run workshops, making it a lively, engaging, and creative community celebration. Visitors of all ages can explore a variety of artistic disciplines, enjoy demonstrations, and immerse themselves in the inspiring atmosphere, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy and experience.

The Trail is thought to be the largest of its kind in Lancashire and attracts over 60 exhibitors. Many of whom are inspired by the scenery and wildlife of the AONB.

General Information for Exhibitors, Hosts and Visitors

The Trail is a community event, organised by volunteers, encouraging “ownership” by all the participants.

Exhibitors and others work cooperatively, contributing to tasks and sharing their knowledge in order to positively promote and support this Art and Craft event. Collaboration and mutual support are at the heart of the Trail, fostering a welcoming environment for creativity and learning.

The Trail aims to encourage creativity within the community and promote and showcase the work of amateurs and professionals within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The aim is to bring a wide range of arts and crafts to everyone’s experience.

Anyone who creates their own work can apply to be an exhibitor. They also welcome interest from individuals wishing to do demonstrations and workshops. Resident exhibitors tend to locate their own exhibition venue, be it home, studio or workshop. The public venue space is shared between residents and guests in order to provide variety and interest.

By combining professional and amateur talent, demonstrations, and interactive workshops, the Trail ensures an engaging and dynamic experience for visitors, celebrating creativity while fostering connections across the local artistic community.
