We packed lunch and carried plenty of water. That was a wise move. There were no shops along the way. However, that only added to the sense of escape. Along the route, we passed the small campsite at Camping Merry-sur-Yonne, tucked neatly into the village of Merry-sur-Yonne. Was there a shop here? I was unsure, as it was not open, and the signs read ‘No public allowed on site.’
