Blandine Anderson Hare

We first came across Blandine Anderson’s sculptures while on a visit to the City of York. We saw her work in the Pyramid Gallery on 43 Stone Street. The Gallery is a privately owned shop and gallery in the heart of medieval York, close to The Minster. Established in 1982, Pyramid offers one of the country’s finest selections of British-made contemporary crafts, jewellery and original prints. Anderson finds inspiration for her work in the landscape of her immediate surroundings in North Devon. She combines different forms of wildlife with the environment in sensitive and delightful ways. She works at differing scales in stoneware and porcelain, to allow her sculpture to capture both the broad sweep of ploughed fields and the minutiae of the hedgerows.

Blandine Anderson’s unique ceramic sculptures are a captivating dialogue between fine art, ceramics and sculpture. Each unique work is individually hand-built in either porcelain or stoneware clay.

The subject matter for Blandine’s ceramic sculpture is drawn mainly from the fauna and flora of the British Isles – many of her works are enriched by her interest in folklore, myth and fable.

Blandine has exhibited her ceramics and paintings throughout the British Isles in many solo and group exhibitions. Her work is held in collections worldwide.
